Mac Users

I personally don't like macs, or apple, no big deal, there just not for me, I appreciate why some people do like them - I don't see why what hardware/software people use has an effect on their personality, if somebody is an idiot, it doesn't matter if its mac or pc, there still an idiot.

Best little unix-alike workstations I've ever used. I come from a Unix background and love them. I use Windows Vista and love that too. I don't get on with linux though, it seems to go out of it's way to try and be different to Unix or the BSD Unix variants.

Hi Guys,

I dont know why people with Macs (laptops or mini's) think there better than the moon? Youve all seen the youtube videos, and now theres some neat ones why Windows is much better than Mac (Recording Tv, Games, Many More)

Why should I read any further than this trolling opening paragraph?

This represents your opinion. It does not reflect everyones.

I own a MBP, PC and a console.
PC & Consle = gaming
MBP = other stuff.

Do I know I'm better than everyone else? Damn right I do but I don't need a computer to define or publicise that! ;) :D

So please, before wasting your pointless life making further posts like that think.

Cheers..

Parallels does that to me :( If I try and start a VM literally seconds after the dock appears, then i'll get the "you need to restart your computer" fade out :)

We use Parallels here and it hasn't done that. Sure the program has crashed but that is because it is rubbish!

You running the latest version with the latest patches? It could be because Parallels has hooks into the OS. Normal applications don't.

Still compared to the number of times I have witnessed an application take down Windows...:(

i've been using a powerbook for over 3 years. it hasn't crashed or frozen once. i've had individual programmes crash on the odd occasion, but never the whole computer. same with my friend's ibook. they're just better machines.

omgomg - but Mac users are so stupid, they don't even have right click!! I mean, how can you get anything done without right click!?

I switched to OSX because I was so sick of having to be so cautious of everything I did. Yeah, Windows is stable if you look after it, but then so's any operating system. I prefer the OSX interface, I love that I don't have to run adaware every 25 minutes, I LOVE the oodles (that's right, I said oodles) of cool freeware you can get (macsaber, anyone!? how unnecessary!).

That's not to say it isn't without its annoyances - I HATE that there isn't 1 unified web browsing solution. Firefox (my grudging browser of choice) is so damn slow and unstable, it actually makes me physically angry sometimes. Safari is quite nice, but doesn't have enough features. Camino - Firefox without plugins...why the hell would I want that?! Shiira?! don't even get me started!

Windows, for me, should be for gaming only. You don't get enough control over the OS, it doesn't listen when you implicitly tell it to do something (YES, I want the httpd process to OWN that ****ing folder!) and there are NO decent text-editors for it (as a Mac user, I'm very spoiled! don't even start me on Scite and that crap - I've tried them all, and the only half decent one is e-text editor because it's a port of TextMate!)

However, I love that it's totally skinnable without having to install some crazy, processing-hogging app, and I love how well it works on my Macbook Pro.

I use Ubuntu for work, but only because they won't let me use OSX.

All operating systems have their place, and they all have their annoying zealots that give other users a bad name - but if you can ignore the idiots that use the various hardware/OS (and I can, very easily, actually) then you'll find that none of this crap really actually matters - computers are tools, just like the people who are obsessive enough to care about this crap.

wow, I must be bored

Dude, you speak the truth.

Exactly why I switched to Mac.

Care to explain what you mean? and you were using 10.4 right not OS9? :D

Was one of the earlyer iMacs (about a year ago)
was forced to try one for a whole week by a mac fanatic friend of mine

He was lucky to get it back in one piece.

tbh it wasent *that* bad...

a guy at work bought his old mac in to work with os 9 on it. That is truly, truly abismal :(

Drag it trash can.

Or use open firmware commands to open the drive.

And this is why Macs suck. Drag a drive to a trash can to eject. Like, huh?

Mac's are form over function and mostly preffered by people with a chip on their shoulder or those who think its cool to hate MS (Who they will invariably refer to as M$).

You can press the eject button on the keyboard too - which is pretty much the same as pressing an eject button on the front of a computer, is it not?

It's not wrong, it's different.

Quoted again :)

I switched because I was so fed up of Windows getting in the way of everything I wanted to do. Photoshop became a chore under XP. Switched to Apple and whhoooo Photoshop just works. Same as everything else really.

Say I want to install/test a program and I don't like it - I just delete the icon I click to open it. Then it's completely gone. XP? 'Do you want to keep this file?' Might be a important one!

Another example is h264 video. My bud, an avid gamer is on XP. Well h264 is just a joke on Windows, codec's here, codec's there. Same version of VLC on both platforms & which just plays it? Yup the OSX version. Laughable really.

I bought my first Mac after having supported them a while back for BT tech support.
I've worked with Windows and a little with Linux for years and I just fancied a change.

Got a MacMini and was setup and running within minutes and happy within an hour.
That as opposed to having to reformat my PC taking most of the day to get all my apps and themes customised to my liking.

Nothing against Windows but it's nice to go back to a simple OS X interface that just seems to work with no fuss after spending all day in tech support digging around in a registry to fix someone's Windows problem.

Vista was a bit exciting for a while throughout the beta period but after buying a laptop with it on I got so fed up with it and ended up buying another Mac.

Not saying Macs are perfect but they certainly do everything I need from a computer with a lot less fuss than Windows ever did.

You dont really drag it to the trash can when you drag a dmg or CD the trash icons turns into a Eject symbol and you move it onto it and it ejects the cd, there are far more easier ways and have never had to use the drag to trash method but its another option.
No the cases used to be form over function, but the new cases are great for cooling and silent operation and mac osx has always been form AND function, you obviously have a problem with fan boys which is what you are describing, the 'Normal' mac user uses a mac for whats its supposed to be used for which works better than MS
