Mac vs PC

This argument is boring :(

The argument is boring because there is ultimately no real justification over the other. Macs are just not that great, they are overpriced desk ornaments, PCs are ugly overbearing things that run bloatware that needs to be constantly re-installed to keep streamlined... they serve a purpose and are generally chosen because the other option (Linux) is built by geeks for geeks and is used by people attempting to fool themselves into thinking that they're smarter for spending their days struggling to get it to run windows stuff...

Blah.

Time to liven it up......

Come on you cant be serious tell me your kidding right. Dont forget the white socks and sandals as well.

How are they not?

Form factor:
If you want a tiny little HTPC you pay a premium for a small, high quality case, small PSU, low profile GPU, m-ITX motherboard etc. if you build one. Same if you buy a Mac Mini.

Build quality:
Just look at the Lenovo X1 I posted, one of the few laptops that's as nicely put together and guess what? It costs pretty much the same.

I'm struggling to be nice here but you're just being idiotic, why not tell me WHY they aren't factors?

People pay more for cars that are better made, more comfortable and look nicer. Why not PCs?

Okay so both of you seem to have confirmed that the only difference is how it looks and the operating system?

I'm looking at this thread as if I don't use either a PC or a Mac and everyone here is trying to convince me of which one to buy. My conclusion is that the looks argument makes no sense as I can actually decide how my PC looks and it looks no better or worse than a Mac, especially with a case like the 600t. I can even change how the PC looks a few years down the line.

If you can 100% truthfully say that you can get a Mac of equal power for the same price as a PC and it also has similar software (which many people have disagreed with), then it comes down to 2 things...

Which OS do you prefer and do you want to game? :D

Why would he be joking?

Find me a laptop that is as well made as any of the current lineup, especially the MacBooks.
Find me a laptop that has a trackpad as good as the current MacBooks.

Once you actually start looking, you find they are the same price as Apple kit, and still not as well made...

Great move slipping a laptop verses macbooks argument in ...i thought we where talking about PC's?

Why would you be getting angry sir? Tut tut you fanboys are really to over strung. To me PC's look the biz. Mine does anyway I built it myself and it looks fantastic over a Mac. sorry if my view upsets you.

Because you and others keep saying baseless rubbish, refuse to back up their arguments (like you just have) and are generally annoying.

Oh, and you're the fanboy if anyone is. I don't own a Mac, I own a self built HTPC, gaming PC, HP Tablet and laptop (up until last week).

So again, why aren't build quality or form factor things to consider when buying a PC?

They're exactly the same thing, 'cept one has a shinier coating of paint.

And if "build quality" really matters to you (which is just a by-product of PJS) then you get that over-priced shiny piece of metal. :D

This is as silly as people arguing over programming languages....

People buy different products for different reasons, there isn't anything inherently wrong about a mac or a well built PC and there are valid reasons for owning either. Plenty of people own both...

Because the cheaper more common poverty car can do much more than the more expensive fashion statement which is why I question anyone who buys a Mac :p

Who cares about what can do more? All cars go from A to B, but I'd rather be in a nice car than a crap one.

It's all about enjoying what you use and it doing what you require, if people think the Mac OS interface is more pleasing to use and does what they want, then good for them.

I use a PC myself but what annoys me is the amount of mindless crap in threads like these. I can totally understand why someone might prefer a Mac, I don't post stupid statements calling them idiots because of it.

To put it simply, some people think Macs are very expensive and can't see past the price tag. Also, in the case of many people it's jealousy to some extent. Buying a decent Mac is too much of a financial risk for them, so they just write it off instead.

One might introduce the argument of buying into the Apple 'control freak' ethos and the loss of control and subsequent selling of ones soul in the process...

(solidly devils advocate here...)
