Mac won't boot after OS Update

Updated to Mountain Lion a few weeks back from Lion on my 2011 Mac Mini. All went ok.

Last week I got prompted for an OS update, a OS X Server Update, and the new itunes update. After installing these, it asked to do a reboot.

I did this, and now it's stuck. I've got a grey screen that has been left literally for a day, and now when trying reboots I get no 'Chime' and it stays on the grey screen.

Any idea what is wrong, and what I need to do?

Thanks for the reply feek

absolutely no joy with either of these ;(

I bought it last year (November) on the online store. Whats my best option to get this sorted asap? Thank god for time capsule backups.

Edit - Just checked using apple's support database. I'll be driving to Apple in Bristol tomorrow by the looks of it :( Do I need to take the original box with me?

(I've got a 2.7 Ghz i7 with Radeon GFX Mac Mini which was a 'custom' option when I ordered. Does that mean its unlikely they can swap it over if it is totally fubard?

Just take the mini, no need for anything else. If it needs parts and they don't have them in stock then they'll keep it and do the repair when the parts come in.

Back, mac mini fixed ! Had to have a fresh install of the OS in the shop to fix it though.

So, I have my time capsule which has a time machine full system backup on it.

Looking online it suggests the way to do this is to enter the recovery console on boot pressting cmd + R

I've tried this, both with my wireless and wired keyboard, and neither seems to do anything.

I'm really sorry i'm being this retarded :(

All sorted, got in using the option key and entered the recovery partition.

Machine has about 3hrs 30 to restore, happy days :)

Thanks for your help feek, appreciate it
