As per title. Does anyone subscribe, do you think it's worth it, does it serve any practical worth for you personally?

Like most of us, I have bought webspace/created blogs etc that I have never used. Is this the same scenario, just with pretty bells and whistles?

Yep, pretty much. If its storage you want you can get more for less.

It's a nice idea but they probably should bundle it with OSX for free and use it to pump advertisements to us. I'd probably make a use for it then.

Imo, what's your paying for with dotmac is not the features themselves, but the fact they're very nicely integrated with OSX. I don't pay for my .mac membership, but if I left the firm I'd pay the yearly fee to keep my membership. That, if you ask me, is a pretty good endorsement. Yes, you can get a lot of the features for free or cheap, but hasslewise, if you buy dotmac you get it all integrated really nicely with the OS and it's cracking.

£69 divided by 12 = £5.75 a month, at the mo if you buy it with a mac you get it for £49 instore, so that's £4.08 a month. Well worth it put in those terms if you ask me.

I had it free from when I worked at Apple and I keep it going now out of my own pocket. It's not feature rich and you can definatley get more bang for your bucks elsewhere but the syncing, my @mac.com email address and all that jazz is what I want and so I don't mind coughing up for it.

I'm sure you can buy it cheaply on the bay (last time I checked ~40GBP) and get a code emailed to you. It's the same with the extended warranties.

Cheers for the replies guys, I also really love the fact that everything is so sleek and integrated, pretty much a glorified ftp built into the OS, but I have a wedding coming up so it would be cool to be able to control all the images and video from one centralised place

It is great I definitely recommend it.

Buy it from eBay too, £45 for a activation code from a US seller. I bought mine from him, so have a few others. :)

I've used the 60day trial to see if I wanted to use it or not, and I must say I was very impressed with it!

Been using it for 3 months now and it does come in real handy, I've created a website, photo gallery, obviously email account which is nice :) iDisk which is a life saver :D

I bought it from Apple themselves so might have paid a little over the odds, but in all fairness, it's £68 well spent imo!

I'm also considering whether or not I should get the dotmac thing when I buy my macbook next week, seems like a great way to publish my photos/videos and website online and for 49£ for a year I really can't complain.
The email account will certainly be nice as well as I want to get rid of my hotmail account, too much damn junkmail :P.

Much better off with a $6 domain and some hosting of your choice in my opinion. It does depend on the user though.

i think .mac has been neglected by apple - but I believe from what I've read that we should be seeing some more features soon.

I quite like having the option to use it and at £49 per year, its not badly priced!

Its ability to integrate with iweb seamlessly is a big plus for me...

Definitely a goodn :)

I subscribe, have done since 2005.

I like the email (no spam!) and the storage facilities for when I need to shove some stuff online and retrieve it in work. The OS intergration and settings sync is nice :)

Can be handy if you have multiple Macs, but I don't, so I can't comment.
