MacBook air cover + VGA out

Can anyone recommend a cheap protective cover (just to protect from scratches) for my 13" MacBook Air?

Is there an adapter that will allow me to have VGA out on my MacBook? I remember there being an option during checkout but I've looked at the connections on my MacBook air and unless its USB to VGA, I don't see how its possible...

If there is an adapter, do I have to buy an apple one or will a compatible one do (if they exist).

There is the apple option or im sure there are cheaper ones that will do the job.
