Hi all,

Got myself a new 2013 MacBook Air last year and really happy with it.

I used to have this weird like clicking noise happen randomly when I moved it about on my lap. Felt like something sticking below the keyboard/trackpad area. Anyway, that went away and has been replaced by this kind of weird 'creaking' noise.

It happens sometimes when I'm just typing and happens all the time when I press lightly under the bottom of my laptop.

Anyone else experiencing this? Should I take it into the shop? It's only a small thing but doing my head in!

My 2011 Air has developed this over the years, thought it was through wear and tear.

I first noticed the clicking noise about two weeks in.

Sort of sounds like a piece of metallic metal unsticking from piece of plastic. If you can imagine what that sounds like :p

Think I'll make a trip into the store tomorrow and see what they say..

Mine had it when I first got it, it doesn't seem to do it anymore though. I assume it's just a quirk...

I had this on mine afew years ago when resting my hand next to the trackpad, took it in the Apple store and they checked it over, tightened afew screws and it was fine after that.

Yeah, it's only a little thing but annoying nonetheless. Don't want to just accept it, paid good money for that! :D

Thanks for this thread, I thought it was just mine that made this noise! Will be taking mine straight to Apple for them to take a look at!

Took mine in, he said he had tightened one of the battery clips which had come loose, It's better now but still not perfect.

He has ordered another battery and clip set under the warranty for me so should be getting that in next week.

Mine feels solid tbh mate, no strange noises. Although my hinge has got 'looser' over time. E.g. if move it from my lap and stand up suddenly, screen will move slightly. It used to be so stiff (Which wasn't a bad thing) but now only stays in place if the laptop is steady. I believe this is normal though and Apple will tighten the screws for you, should you take it in.

Took it in lads, they put a new battery and battery clips in for free as it is still under warranty. All sorted now. :D
