Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone on here might be able to help me, please? I have an old MacBook Air, mid-2012 model, which has been a champ and is still fine for internet and light productivity use. Recently however my Wi-Fi speed is very slow.
For example, my mac gives me around 1-4 Mbps whereas my phone and other devices connected to my Sky router yield speeds of around 35Mbps, in the same room. (my max connection is up to 63Mbps) Occasionally my mac will have a faster speed but more often than not it's stuck around the 1-4 mark. Moving to a new location in the house doesn't really help. this problem only started a few weeks ago but seems to be getting worse.
I have done all the usual troubleshooting I have found online:
1.Deleted user network settings
2.Deleted network profile
3.Deleted SSID
4.Reset SMC (worked once and then on second reboot speed was slow again)
5.Reset PRAM.
6.re-booted router
7.Connected to another SSID i.e. my iPhone hotspot, it works fine
I'm want to avoid upgrading to Catalina or doing to clean OS install if possible. I have purchased a used replacement AirPort cart but have yet to install it. I just wanted to see if there is anything else I could try before opening my mac up or reinstalling the OS?
Thanks in advance for any more suggestions.
