Hi

Recently my macbook air seems to be getting very hot, so much so that it burns to place it on my lap. I installed the temperature widget on it and it says the CPU is reaching 70C, which seems a little bit hot to me. Is this temp normal or shall i take it to apple to get it checked out?

Thanks for the help

Should be possible to find a review online which gives normal temps for a macbook air, 70 sounds a little warm depending on what you're doing with it at the time. Also to an extent how old your air is, I feel the newer ones and the unibody machines in general now run a bit cooler than previously...

It gets to 70 when im just running safari on it. I'm just asking as i never used to get this hot and its quite loud now as well. The laptop itself is coming up to being a year old.

As you mention Safari I'd be inclined to say it's probably a flash thing?

Adobe Flash videos tend to cause high CPU spikes, which in turn means higher temps and an increase in fan noise to compensate :o

its still goes up in temp when i'm not using adobe flash video as well. Will go up when i'm just on here browsing.
