I'm looking to buy a laptop for everyday use (browsing, YouTube, etc), might play a bit of football manager on it and a bit of video editing.

Had a look at prices for decent laptops and prices are all over the place and hard to choose something that will last.

Now I've been thinking, is MacBook air good option for my needs due to it's build quality and reliability. Want something that will last a long time.

I've got windows pc where I do all my gaming. Never used macos but have owner iPhones and iPads before.

Any opinions would be appreciated, especially those that might have windows pcs and Mac as laptop.

You can't go wrong with a MacBook. They're great machines that Apple support for years. I personally had a Windows PC for gaming and a Mac Studio and MacBook Pro for work and the only annoyance with this set up was Windows... If you've used iDevices before you'll know what the MacOS icons are for as they're just the same. MacOS is easy to use and you'll quickly get your head around it so don't let that put you off.

My wife has a Mabook Pro that you was complaining wouldn't update to the latest MacOS. Turned out that despite looking like new (despite being used regularly) it was eight years old. Works just fine too to give you an idea of quality and reliability.

Thank you for that, makes me feel like I'm making a good decision. Looking at refurbished deals as heard Apple refurbished products are like new, this good deal in your opinion https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/produ...1227de8b293a5d328e19419164bc2ac4f67afa41bafc5

Absolutely nothing wrong with refurbished Apple stuff. The refurbished store is my first port of call myself. That particular Air is OK. The 256Gb M2s are known to have slow read/write speeds however whether that’s noticeable in real life is an entirely other matter. If it fits your budget and needs then go for it. You won’t regret it. I also note that it’s got 16Gb which is the new minimum memory requirements supposedly for Apple AI so bonus!
