Macbook and iPod, a good buy?

I'm in the usa at the moment on hols and thinking of splashing out. I'm considering buying a 16gig iTouch and macbook from the local apple store.
I already have a decent gaming pc (slow amd 3200+ cpu though) a ps3 and an old eMac 1ghz machine that I used to use a lot.
I'd obviously like a macbook pro but think the wife would go nuts at the extra cost. I'd only use it for gaming when away from home so the macbook would suffice for rts and rp games? I would be using it mainly for web and email, lightroom and cs2, so whats the best macbook option?

It looks likely that I will buy the new touch iPod while here also as my old 30gig player is getting a bit old. Can't wait to get to the store and check out all the options but would love some decent advice before I go.

Already got some bargin headphones here. Grado sr80's for $25 :-)

If I was buying one, I'd go for the base model and upgrade the ram to 2GB. The black MacBook is a ripoff.

I dont know about gaming first hand, but Ive heard plenty of people say theyve played World of Warcraft on it fine.

The macbook has 64MB integrated graphics so it really depends what games you plan on playing, some games require more than that as minimum.

Update:

Bought a 15" 2.4ghz MacBook Pro today, but they had no iPod touch's left in stock, A quick trip across town to the other Apple store and result! A 16gb 'touch' is now mine :) Week 38 and no screen issues or dead pixels :)

Woah woah, since when did they start selling iPod Touches? I thought they went on general sale on the 28th?
