Have just got my lovely new macbook and want to connect to my NTL broadband. I have tried simply attaching the USB modem but the macbook doesn;t see it (no lights on the modem and nothing on the mac), I have tried with the ethernet cable and that did not work either.

As an OS X noob I would apprecitate any help

The USB modem won't work without drivers. It's a crap way of doing it anyway!

Try plugging the MacBook into the cable modem vai ethernet then rebooting the cable modem. The modem won't give a connection in my experience if you plug another PC in without power cycling the modem.

There's nothing to configure on the Mac - it should just work out of the box.

Plugging in the ethernet cable and restarting etc should be it, I've only had to go through problems with wireless (passwords etc) :)

Thank you guys, that worked, it looked like I had tried too hard to set it all up!

I am now replying from the Macbook!
Cheers
