Macbook and channel 13

So my flatmate's boyfriend's having issues with connecting his Macbook to our network. I've gathered it's because it's set to channel 13 and his Macbook, presumably, is set to the US wireless restrictions for some reason. Might someone be able to explain in a simple way how to change this so he can see channel 13? I'm not changing the channel, my block is incredibly crowded and 13's pretty much the only clean channel.

Not used Mac much, so please be gentle. :)

EDIT: Port? My god, I'm still asleep. I mean channel throughout, of course. Pardon my sleepiness.

EDIT2: Fixed.

It'll probably be because of an erroneous password or clash of IPs. Wifi is wifi. There are no restrictions. If it was a mobile phone, then yes, there may be differences in connectivity (GSM vs CDMA).

Have a look here then. the IEEE specification says that channels 12 and 13 are restricted in the US, while channel 14 is not available to most of the world.

No, Australia. After some googling, it seems that several users outside of the US are having this issue, I've just not managed to find a user-friendly explanation on how to change it.
