Macbook cd drive loud?

Hi there,

I have a basic macbook and when I formatted it, I noticed a weird nosies from the CD drive when using the restore disks. Does anyone else have this?

When you change disk for example?

During spin up/down?

Its when there's a lot of reading going on. Its like a crushy sound.

It should spin up and make a lot of noise when there's lots of reading. But a crushy noise sounds bad. It usually sounds like a high rev spinning object, nothing crushy. Do you think there's something damaged?

Is it only for that disk or all disk?

Its a bit noisy when is reading at max but it doesnt sound like something is broken inside...

if you hear some sort of cracking it might be a fault

Well I've been playing DVDs and everything and it doesn't sound painful. Its more of a kur kur kur sound. Will try and record it

i'm sure those noises are pretty standard, I wouldn't worry too much about them

Hi guys,

Well it basically sounds like the drive reading from different parts of the disk fast.

Anyway, I've got a sound clip here.
