Macbook Cracked screen.

I have a cracked screen on my Macbook Pro 13".

Does anyone have any alternatives to Apple for repair since I heard that it's usually around £300 to do so.

3rd party repairers will be a similar price to Apple I expect. What you may save on the cost of a part, you'll end up paying for the extra labour. Apple's labour charge is like £29 inc VAT.

A cracked screen for a MBP15 costs around £415 at Apple. I'm sure others could do it cheaper but probably worth it just to keep your warranty.

Is it just the outer glass or the lcd beneath that's damaged?

I replace the glass on most models for £90, the lcd is a different matter.

I bought the inner LCD screen on my older macbook pro for about £40. Very easy to do many guides around to follow.
