MacBook DVI -> HDMI will it work?

Quick question. Can I connect my MacBook to my Sony TV in the following way:

MacBook -> MiniDVI to DVI adaptor -> DVI to HDMI cable

or do I need to use vga or dvi to vga?

My KDL-26S3000 allows 1:1 (1360 x 768) on both the HDMI and VGA inputs. Both HDMI and VGA uses 1:1 even if you put the resolution at less than 1360 x 768 (centered with black borders). See

Whatever the hell all that lot means....
