macbook hard drive qestion

Just further to this, my bro said the HD in the MB was a slim size, not the normal sized 2.5" sata drives.... is this correct?

i doubt it, the cost would be an issue, but you never know with mac's im opening mine up tomorrow night, sure someone else would know

It's not a slim drive but you are limited to a maximum height of 9.5mm. Nearly all 2.5" SATA drives are less than 9.5mm so you should be fine with anything, some of the early 500GB 2.5" drives were a bit taller than 9.5mm but in most cases these are clearly labelled as being larger.

I recently sold my old MacBook on eBay and when I did a last minute test before packing it up to post the hard drive died. Went out and got a 160GB 2.5" SATA and it worked fine.

yeah i just got hold of one, not sure on the spec, its 2 years old black thats all i know, was given it as part of a clearance, any idea how much i will get for it? i guess you need the spec!

Depends on the condition and spec. I sold my 3 year old White Macbook with a 2.0Ghz CoreDuo processor, 2GB RAM, a 120Gb Hard Drive and OS X 10.4 for £450 recently.

Earlier MacBooks have a history of problems so if you've not been able to power it up into an OS then it could be hiding a multitude of other problems (backlight, wifi, battery and graphics spring to mind).
