Hi there,
I have had my macbook since september 2007. I have recently upgraded to leopard (about a month, maybe a tad more) ago. I run it with my 24" dell monitor and an apple keyboard and mighty mouse (wireless). Yesterday osx had frozen as a result of me opening safari, so I switched off the laptop by holding down the power button. Now, when I go to switch on my macbook, the grey screen comes on with the famous apple startup sound, but then I just get a lot of hard drive noise, and eventually an icon of a folder with a question mark appears.

I will take it to the apple shop to get it sorted, but was just curious if anyone else had experienced this?

Many thanks!

OS X cannot find the boot drive.

Try booting off the OS X DVD (by holding C on boot) and try repairing disc permissions in Disk Utility :)
