Hi,

Me being idiot kicked a can of relentless all over my macbook today over half the can went all over it, shut off straight away! I was like :(

Being im a laptop engineer, dried keyboard, took the top case off, dried it with a hairdryer, stuck ontop of the boiler wrapped in towels for 60 mins.

plugged all connections back in, and much to my amazment it came back on, only issue it has is the spacebar is sticky... but this doesnt matter as 1 week ago at work i ordered a new top cover for my macbook anyways as the clicker stopped working on 1 side. so dont care about keyboard sticking or anything on top cover, just so glad all the hardware is working.

You wouldnt believe how much a new mainboard is for a macbook, seriously £450+ thats using our GSX account at work! Reason there so expensive is cpu is built into the mainboard!

And here i am typing from it now,

Macs for the win :D

Nice. I saw a demo a few years ago of someone pouring liquid into a laptop and then getting it working again. The key was drying it out - FAST.

And thats well expensive for a main board CPU or not(!)

Yes, but you'll get screwed on pricing.

ThinkPads have/had drain holes in them IIRC, so anything spilt on the keyboard would go straight through and drip out the base.

We use it for company use, as were apple certified repairers... Im a laptop Engineer :P hence why we get access. We dont buy parts, but can! We get them threw on warrenty repair

hmm... i thought if the spillage was water, then you tend to get away with it if dried quickly but i was under the impression things with heavy sugar content pretty much knackers electronics due to increased conductance or summat?

but yeah, the key is fast drying, otherwise a bluey looking substance forms around components then your up poo creek ;)

My MBP survived a tea spillage. My lap didn't though. :(

The mouse button was a bit tight for a few weeks, as was the catch release, but that was fixed when I had the top section replaced anyway. :)
