According to Apple, the m2 pro should be able to handle 2x 4k external monitors @60Hz over Thunderbolt, but I'm having a hell of a job trying to get this to work in a configuration I like.
- I have a couple of thunderbolt docks (Anker Prime TB5, CalDigit TB4), 2x thunderbolt to DP Alt should work (in TB 4 mode) with a single TB connection to the macbook, it doesn't, only one screen displays at any time (both set to 60Hz)
- 1x TB to DP Alt with either 1x HDMI or DP doesn't work
- 2x TB to USB DP Alt from any of the native Macbook ports doesn't work, again only 1 display (whichever is plugged in first) works, refresh rate is set to 60Hz so not a bandwidth issue.
The only configuration I can get working is either DP out or HDMI out from either dock, with the HDMI out on the Macbook, and this _only_ works after removing /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver... and rebooting.
It's pretty pathetic from Apple that both Linux & Windows handle this much better. Am I going mad? Have I missed something obvious or is the m2 pro display cabilities just a steaming pile of poo?
