Have always wanted to upgrade my 512MB ram in my macbook to 2GB, however its always been £150 and over, having just checked again, the price has gone down to under £100 inc. del. from a competitors site.
Is this the correct ram module for macbooks?
1GB Corsair Value Select, DDR2 SO-DIMM PC2-5300 (667), 200 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-15

You can actually get 2GB's of Crucial RAM for £95.99 (inc. vat) now over at a competitor site.

It's probably worth noting that all MacBook, MacBook Pro & Mac Mini RAM is the same.

edit: and yeah, that is the correct ram module.

A few people had incompatibiltity problems with the value corsair on the MBP, it's not "guaranteed compatible" as far as I know. There's someone on here that's had issues with the Crucial RAM in an iMac too. The only third party RAM I've not heard any problems about (so far) is Kingston. It's a little more expensive, but it's guaranteed to work and everyone I've suggested it to is running it without a blip.

I bought 2GB's of Crucial RAM for £95.99 for my MBP and its been working fine :), although i'm pretty sure they came with a compatibility guarantee.

Would go for the Crucial personally, never had a problem with them EVER and the compatibility guarantee is well worth it.

Just ordered 2gig from crucial for £95.99, hopefully abit of money back with quidco too!
cant wait to get it in, compared to my 512mb i sure hope its lightening fast.

another endorsement for Crucial; i got an apple laptop a while ago and used the crucial memory instead of being bent over the counter and ridden [wallet in mouth] by apple.

dan.

I recently went from 512MB to 2GB in my MacBook and it really is like night and day. Everything is so much smoother — booting up, coming out of sleep mode, flicking through windows, opening applications...

Have fun :)

I suppose that DDR2 supplies are better now. 6 months ago DDR had just recently been given its death sentence. AMD switched to AM2 and Socket F, both DDR2 sockets. Suddenly there was little OEM market for DDR; everybody wanted DDR2. Now that production yields are higher and demand has stabilized prices have gone down.

Just installed my 2GB of ram, in the apple manual it says if the ram is installed properly you should hear a click. I didnt hear a click, but i did feel it go into place, took quite abit of effort to get it there too.
Have check with os x and it recognises the ram and status is ok. Is this fine?
