MacBook newbie!

Hi Guys

Just bought myself a used MacBook Pro 2011, i7, 8GB RAM, and going to swap out the 5,400RPM HDD for a 500GB Samsung Evo 840 SSD.

Can some experienced Mac users please offer any advice on 'must have' apps or little tricks/hints that a long time Windows user may not know about?

If you're planning to get involved in scripting, I'd suggest Go2Shell and Sublime Text2.

DaisyDisk for file management.

smcFanControl is a must as OS X uses the "don't run the fans until the machine is reshot and then set them to max RPM" method of thermal management.
