Macbook not recognizing RAM stick

So after all the troubles and tribulations of raising my old Macbook from the dead - thanks again for the help everyone - the stick of 2GB Corsair RAM I bought a few months ago isn't being recognized.

Visually it seems fine - no cracks, scratches or anything - but the laptop simply will not recognize the stick.

Is it possible that when I dropped the Macbook I somehow broke it? I still have 2x 512MB sticks but it's just too slow to use. I'd rather not shell out £30 unless I really have to.

Thanks!

You might have been unlucky enough to shake something loose in the impact. If the old sticks are working then it rules out the RAM slots as an issue.
