MacBook Order Delayed

Just wondering if anyone has ordered a 1.83GHz White MacBook lately? I ordered mine from Apple on 1st Sept with a RAM upgrade. The estimate for delivery was 21st Sept but I got an email the other day to say its been delayed to 3rd Oct. This is a bit annoying as I am having to wait a month for my laptop. So has anyone out there ordered one as well and had theirs delayed too? The only thing which could come good out of this would be that they are holding orders as the MacBooks are getting upgraded???? I hope so but not sure its going to happen.

hi. i ordered one (upgrading ram to 1gb and HD to 80gb) on 31 Aug. It was shipped on 9 Sep and is due on 20th. According to the apple order tracking its on schedule. :confused:

Damn, that's harsh if you've got to wait that long.

Any chance you live close to any Apple store - it'll be better off giving them a call and see if the MacBook that you want is avaliable there and just buy off the store.

I ordered mine 3 fridays ago and recieved it yesterday.

Hope yours arrive soon - the wait of 3 weeks almost killed me. :rolleyes:

I got mine off the shelf from the store at Bluewater, very helpful staff there too.

I tried getting one from a local shop and john lewis but they had sold out, but ended up saving a bunch using the HE discount so I am glad I did it but fed up with the waiting.

The John lewis in cribs at bristol has them in stock or did last weekend

They didn't have any 20" cinema displays,only their store in liverpool did apparently!

What happening with apples lack of stock??

I have had two delivered (the first one was faulty) with 1gb ram and 80 gb hdd and both took 2 and a bit weeks to come. I understand that they are built to order in China and shipped over so I think that if you order a "non-standard" one there it a wait.

People on various forums are reporting depleted stocks and delayed Macbook orders.. it could have course be a simple supply problem but it smacks of what normally happens before an update, so you never know - you could be lucky and get more than you paid for

Or it could just be a global thing where people are going back to school/uni/college and wants a macbook?

As I said, it could be a simple supply problem.. we'll see - my money is on an update in the next 10 days.

The Macbook has only been out 5minutes, I'll be surprised if there's an update.. the pro perhaps, but I doubt the vanilla Macbook will.

Now apple use Intel processors they will have to get use to more frequent product updates.

Agree with Big-Mac-Please.. now that Apple are using Intel processors I think they are almost obliged to 'keep up with the Joneses' as it were to avoid unkind comparisons with regular Windows laptops, by releasing small updates to refresh the processor speed etc.. and it's really not a big deal for them to do so if the socket remains the same.

It's also in their interests to keep a gap between the macbook and the pro, so i'd expect core2 in the pro soon, then the macbook to follow suit in 6months or so.

Could be.. but there is no way the Macbook spec will stay completely static for another 6 months. There will be some form of update soon, whether it just be a Mhz bump on the same class of chip. Apple's MacBook value for money can now be compared directly with Windows consumer laptops so they need to stay competitive.

I think we have all summed it up pretty well!

They have got to stay competative and small processor updates are going to become more frequent.

Its good news on one had as you pay for OS X and the style AND upto date components!

Plus the increased competition has got to be good for us price and spec wise

Ok so my MacBook has been shipped, estimated delivery of the 27th Sept. Sit and wait for it now I guess.

Mine came 5 days earlier (inc sat and sun) than the Apple's initial estimated delivery date. Hope yours come earlier.

Mine was delivered in under 24 hours (not from Apple) about 2 weeks ago, but delivery is now showing as 1 to 2 weeks.
