Hi,

I'm setting my macbook up as a remote server (so SSH and X-forwarding enabled with WOL). I want to gauge how much power the macbook (first of the Intel line 13" white one) uses in sleep mode in Watts. Does anyone know the answer to this?

I dont know, but i can tell you that it uses quite a bit during perlonged sleep. I went back to england for 3 days and forgot to shut down my mac before leaving (just on standby but full battery), it used up between a quater and a third of the batter by the time i got back :( (oh yeah this is on a june09 mbp)

Do you mean consumption from the mains?

If so, get one of those metering pass-throughs. Handy thing to have.

Yep I meant from the mains, I dont have one of those, might invest in one though. I thought a lot of people on here had them so someone might have been able to quickly measure a macbooks power usage on sleep for me.

The Environmental Attributes Sheet Apple posts lists 17W idle.

You'd have to buy one of them meters if you want sleep usage.
