Macbook Pro 13"

If they value the appearance of something then it is worth it to them, even if that is not important to you. Some people like new and shiny cars, others love classics.

Everything has an element of design and it is down to the individual how much value is placed upon it. I am personally yet to see a directly competing design to apple for a nice looking computer.

Nah it's a need for University.
I'd only need £50 but seeing as my discount covers that, I wouldn't need anything off anyone, so.

Didn't end up buying it anyway, going to buy one in September, rather have the cash.
Thanks though, cya.

You do not need a MacBook Pro for what you want to do.

You could get a better spec laptop running windows for under half the price which would be sensible if it's gonna make you skint to buy the mac.

I agree, however, aesthetics should not be confused with "being better". You could as an example put all the bits from a Mac Pro in a stock black PC Tower, this wouldn't make the product any more or any less reliable or a good or bad product.

I admit my MacBook is a lot nicer than any 'Windows' laptops I've used but if I was faced with an £800 quad core Windows based laptop vs buying a £1500+ MBP I can't say the MBP would get chosen really, even if I know the design and quality is good.

OS X is nice but there's nothing I can't do on Windows, the most stand out piece of software for it seems to be Final Cut Pro and Aperture which admittedly you can't get on Windows. I can't judge if they are better than Windows alternatives though.

Edit: I don't even know if you can get quad core laptops for £800 but I'm going to assume you can at this point. :p
