Macbook Pro 13"

Hey All, I'm either getting my gf a Macbook pro 13" or a Sony Vaio S13. Big thing for the mac is that she likes some mac speficis applications whoever the S13 offers a better screen and overall better specs for the price, still looks just as good too.

One big thing for the Macbook 13" is does it have a HDMI, I noticed the new 15" retina Pro does but I couldnt find any info for 13". Have a valid university ID card even thought I have graduated so I can get it for cheaper and a nice 3 years of apple care. Also can you upgrade the ram on this, 8gb is around 25£ these days so would be a nice extra boost down the line, also plan to give her my old SSD as I upgrade soon enough.

Why the pro? I'd be looking at the new revision of the 13" Air

HE prices for that you're looking at £859 for the 128gb and £1074 for the 256gb; not sure on the extra RAM price increase - but it'd be worth doing at build time.

Just on the HDMI bit... you can get cheap ThunderBolt to HDMI adapters, so I wouldn't worry about it having a fixed HDMI port.
