Just purchased a MacBook Pro 15" 2.2 from Apple Direct in the UK.

I am a bit concerned with the cpu temps while just browsing the internet. With temperature Monitor I'm seeing 66-77'c on each core and the base of the laptop is too hot to sit on my lap. The two fans are sitting around 2000 rpm and are silent.

While I appreciate its a fairly high spec processor I wouldn't expect these sort of idle temps while just surfing the net.

Is this normal?

Very pleased other than this issue.

well i have only had my macbook pro for about 5 days, but mine runs at around 40'c idle, so would say thats rather high :(

could you answer me a question? :) ...
... does your mbp make a rather worrying noise when you insert disks? almost like its eating the disk? its fine once its in, but sounds rather loud for an insert noise, lol

how long you had yours? if your worried about it, give them a ring, they are very happy to help :)

cheers

Yes id does make a noise like its eating the disk. Glad its normal!

I receieved the MacBook last Thursday, 20th Dec 2007.

Anyone find they can't work with the pro on your lap?

Mine is far too hot.

I'm thinking there might be an issue with the heatsink compound. Too much / too little?

Everything else is perfect. No other issues and I love the backlit LED glossy screen.

I'll give apple a ring.
