I've always been of the philosophy of spending a bit more on a product and making it last a long time.
Enter the MacBook pro 2012 non retinna. It was the last MacBook I beleive, that offered great value for money. I bought it when new for £1850ish and have since upgraded the RAM and Harddirve.
It's now running the following spec.
2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost)
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 (Upgraded from 4GB)
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2TB (Upgraded from 750GB HDD)
It has been my main machine for Web Development since 2012 and still outperforms some laptops purchased in 2019. While the CPU may be considered slightly underpowered, it still performs fast enough to be usable as my main machine. So hearin lies my problem. It only supports 1 x external display and can't output 4k natively (as far as I'm aware).
For web development, having 1 x external monitor and a 15" laptop screen isn't really enough. I did have a windows desktop which I also was using for about 10 years on and off. However that has died and I'm now back to using my MacBook Pro. Which I love and I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on if it was possible to get past this limitation.
Ideally I'd like to be able to drive 2 x external Full HD monitors in addition to my laptop display. I don't really have the money at the moment to build a new windows desktop or buy a specced out new MacBook Pro.
I therefore woneder if it was possible to output to 2 HD monitors via the mini display port.
