MacBook Pro Alternative

A lad in the office has just bought a MacBook Pro Retina which is simply stunning, and well, so it should be for the £3000 plus price he paid for it. My question; is there a genuine alternative to this colossal price tag hardware or is the future green, juicy and financed?

This Lenovo X1 Carbon is almost perfect:

Only issue is it only has the Intel 4000 Graphics Card and not the secondary Nvidia with HDMI out like the MacBook. But it's a business specific laptop I suppose, shame.
