Hi all, I've had my Macbook for around 3 years now and it hasnt missed a beat until now. The battery has refused to charge, it sometimes works when connected to the power socket but not always. The green light on the power pack connector doesnt always light up green when I connect it to my Mac, is this an issue with my charger or battery or both?

Not looking to replace the whole thing yet as I only use it for surfing the net, the occasional spreadsheet and uploading photos from mt DSLR to the net. I think the battery has now suprassed the max amount on the charge cycle, wheres the cheapest place to buy a replacement battery and power cable?

Apple MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (Unibody) Specs

Thanks

James

Probably a problem with the charger, I had to replace mine after 18 months (on a similar age MBP) and it was a known weakness with the connector. If you know someone with a MacBook then try their charger as a test.

When you say a weakness with the connector, do you mean the part on the charger or on the macbook?

I dont know anyone with a macbook as all my mates are PC based, but im guessing a power lead wont be too expensive.

Take it into your local Apple shop and just plug in one of the display chargers. If it charges then your charger is at fault, if it doesn't then it's a battery fault.

Im thinking an appointment at apple would be good, is it as easy as booking online and they provide support when you turn up?

Ended up picking up a charger for just over £10 on ebay, works a treat. Just need to replace the battery at somepoint as it lasts a maximum of an hour if im lucky.

As the battery is shot, I will only use the charger when the laptop is on my lap. I also made sure its a UK supplier and a uk manufacturer.
