Hi everyone!

Last week I bought an 8gb upgrade for my Early 2011 13" Macbook Pro to go alongside a 128GB Crucial SSD. I've installed both today and have realised that I bought an 8GB DDR3 1066(1067)Mhz kit instead of the 1333Mhz variety.

Am I likely to notice much of a difference or will the increased amount of RAM outweigh the slightly lower performance?

You'd only notice the slower ram speed in benchmarking really. The extra size will give a massive benefit if you are using programs that need more memory than you used to have as you won't need to page to disk.

Perceivable difference, none. Actual difference, slight, I'd personally send it back but that's just being fussy. If you play games on it, you'll notice a difference in frame rates merely because the HD3000 relies on system memory, but otherwise, you'll be fine.

DefiantAsh, purchase the 1333MHz kit on OcUK, they have the best price.

That will fit in my Macbook?

Thanks, I will have a peep now :)

edit: Would have to buy 2 of the 4GB packs as the [2x4GB] package for £31.99 is out of stock :(

Yep, I have the same machine :) Might be worth contacting them to ask when they have more stock, or they might have some on Tuesday with the Bank Holiday and all.

Thanks guys, it's a bit annoying but as you say, I shouldn't notice any difference. The HD 3000 also has more ram available to it now so in theory it should all be snappier anyway.

The SSD has however made a massive difference to the overall feel of the system.
