Does anyone have a hard case for their Macbook Pro? I may be looking for one which I can use while the laptop is open and on, rather than just a carry-case / bag (I already have a great laptop bag).

I'm thinking in the medium term of gigging with my MBP, but if I do this it needs to be gig-proof when set up. I've looked at the Speck cases but seen very mixed reviews. If anyone has any recommendations I'd be most grateful.

Thanks :)

EDIT - I think ideally I'd be using a sort of flight case / ally briefcase which has some kind of way to secure the laptop whilst it is open. Not managed to find one so far...

Just buy a standard flight case, take your MBP to a foam cutters and they'll do the measurements.

2 days later you'll have the foam that fits to a tee :)

Good idea.

Don't get one of those hard cases though, they look terrible!

Trouble is I've not seen many flight cases that are designed to be robust whilst partially opened. Usually the hinges on them are 180 degree only ones.

On reflection, I agree - I'm also not at all convinced that they offer much protection for the money. Quite like these though (thanks Chewy) :)

They had a MEGA sweet one in MacWorld a few issues back.

I doubt I can find it for you but they claimed it was unbreakable!! Worth a Google?

That would be the Peli 1495 laptop case?

It's unbreakable, dust proof, waterproof and chemical resistant. It costs about £180 though. It's used in the military too.

Probably a tad OTT, and one to fit my laptop probably wouldn't sit too happily on my keyboard stand shelf which is 25cm x 25cm :p

Still, they look like good products, if a little pricey.
