Hi all,

I've noticed recently (well, since installing Lion) that when I put my Macbook to sleep, after a couple of days the battery will be flat and the laptop will have hibernated itself.

I'm sure it didn't always used to be the case.. Certainly not before installing Lion anyway.. It'd lose a few percent over the weekend but not the whole charge.

Is this normal? Is there something that can be done? The laptop is less than a year old, the battery is still in good nick and I can get many hours' use out of it on one charge!

Thanks!

I think it's pretty normal.

Sleep mode is always using power and if you aren't going to be using it for a while, it's better to shutdown.

Normal.

Somethings are still powered in sleep.

If you want you can turn hibernate on from the command line, takes a few seconds more to get back but turns it off completely...

My point is, it hasn't always been like it..? I can accept SOME battery draw, but it hasn't always flattened the battery completely from a 100% charge between Friday evening and Monday/Tuesday morning

I haven't done extensive tests but when i looked on Snow Leopard it worked out to about 1% an hour which i think is pretty good. Going by that rough estimate it would be half the battery charge by the 3rd day.

Haven't looked at Lion but certainly haven't noticed any glaring issues, leave mine on standby all the time

Mine does 1-2% an hour, towards 2% if it wakes up for whatever reason.

The maximum time from 100% is 50 hours (2.1 days) or 100 hours (4.2 days).

Sounds fine to me.

I'm trying to figure out how you can go a few days not using your Macbook, I feel like I can't leave mine alone for a few hours let alone a few days!
