Hi, i am still looking out for a macbook pro and found a brand new MBP 2.2ghz, 2gb RAM, 8600GT 128mb, 120gb hard disk for £970 i understand this is the older 2007 model?

Now would you go for this or spend the extra £200 (i will get edu discount) on the newer 2.4 ghz MBP with 256MB graphics card and 200GB hard disk?

have said before but main useage is web development, internet, occasional photoshop and bit of casual gaming (RTS games etc) and i would like to use it with my 20" (soon to be 24") monitor.

You may find the hdd a bit small I am looking to upgrade mine at the moment. Depends if you think that is worth it. The graphics card I find is perfect for most RTS games and things a year or two old.

may be tempted then as i can get a 250/320GB SATA drive for under £50.

are they identical other than the hardware i pointed out?

£200 for the 200MHz difference in CPU may not be worth it, but the 3 years of AppleCare you get from purchasing on the HE store may well make up for it.

There are photos on the net of the underside of the new case, good sources are saying they are real.

I'd say both new macbook and macbook pros this year going by timescales alone.
