Macbook Pro records over 8hrs battery lfe

Very interesting, it makes me wonder if it's possible for them to produce a replacement battery for the previous Unibody laptops that uses this technology with the "Battery Management Unit" built in. That would be a tempting purchase.

I presume as the 13" model boasts the same 7 hour battery life as the 15" model, these results can be expected from that also. It's all looking very good indeed.

I'll be interested to see what battery life I can get from my new mid 2009 15" MBP - it's only had one charge cycle and I'm already set to see well over 6 hours from it :D

Just sat here browsing the web via WiFi and:

if you do anything worth while on it, i.e. web browsing or watch a movie you'll get no were near that mabe 4 at best.

Also depends what GPU you're running.

Typically, swapping to the more powerful GPU (in energy saver) will reduce the expectancy by 1hr (or so).

Did you read the article?

Apple must have done more than just increase battery capacity in the new MacBook Pro. My third test continues to support my findings. This is my heavy workload benchmark.

For this benchmark I'm downloading 10GB worth of files from the net (constant writes to the drive), browsing the web (same test as the first one) and watching the first two episodes of Firefly encoded in a 480p XviD format (Quicktime is set to loop the content until the system dies).

Result = 4.92 hours.

Besides, all his other tests had iTunes playing in the background, and loading smaller webpages every 20 seconds, even that got over 8 hours.

Apple have produced an excellent battery life that most other companies will struggle to achieve. :D

Or not - I actually got over 6 hours from it while browsing the web :)

Hell I get four hours out of an old (read: 2007) MacBook when just browsing the web!

I ran through it in around 25 minutes the other day encoding a HD (720p) screencast and the cpu hit 77 degrees!
