Hello

I have a 2016 MacBook Pro and I've never been too fond of it. It's recently developed a hardware fault where the screen dies if you open on the display. I'm currently using an external monitor but it's really annoying so I booked a Genius Bar appointment to find out what the repair cost is.

In current times, it seems it's just a 'drop off' service, which is understandable but a bit rubbish. My options are basically repair the MacBook or get a new portable device.

So my questions:

Before I take the MacBook in, should I completely wipe the Mac?

Is it even worth the bother? If they are about to charge me £500 to just get the screen working I anticipate I'm better off just buying something new.

Cheers.

@Nitefly how did this go in the end?
They repaired the screen for free. I also got them to repair the keyboard which has sticky / broken keys, although it was a bit annoying as they were supposed to be doing both at the same time and forgot to do the latter so I had to send it off again. It took about 10 days each time I sent it off.

But yes, ended up with a brand new (old model) MacBook essentially, so a good result.
