MacBook Pro software update available

Yeah did a fresh install about 2am ( ) this morning and downloaded this.

Seems the new MBP's are equipped with 1.3MP iSight cameras, instead of the VGA ones in the older MBP's.

Also, new iTunes 7.3 is out (support for iPhone added)

I thought my iSight was awfully clear for a VGA cam. Where did you find that out?

Floating around the rumor sites...posted by some devs

Apparently, the hardware is now 1.3MP but certain software limitations in iChat are forcing it to display a lower res than it's capable

Hmm it seems that the AP Scanner causes real issues with AirPort, my graph just see-saws until you quit the scanner. I assume the AirPort card can't scan and use the air interface at the same time.

That seems to have sorted the almost zero web transfer rate..

Next it seems there's a slow transfer rate with samba from an external server to the mac. I know samba on the server is working ok as XP on my T42 works very quickly. Also I've seen others with this same issue..

Nice article on slow samba access here

Now getting a steady 78Mbit airport transfer rate. So that looks like it's the limit of the 100Mbit copper LAN.. although airport states 130Mbit air interface.

I've read a report that someone has found a relationship between airport problems and temperature, so smcFanControl may be worth looking into.
