Macbook Pro stuck at apple loading screen

So yesterday, my MBP was froze while I was using it so I had to hard restart it.

Now when I try to turn it on, it just gets to the white background with the apple logo and spinning circle.

I tried to hold shift and boot but that made no difference either!

I have no clue what to do next

Hold alt on boot and select the recovery partition - try and repair your drive through disk utility and see if that helps.

In the end, i had to format and reinstall as repairing didn't work
