Macbook Pro track pad issue

The track pad on my 2009 MBP is playing up, although it is clicking when I press it, there is no click or tap happening in the software. OS is OSX Yosemite. Two finger scrolling works fine. Other than taking it in to Apple to check out, any other ideas?

battery might be swollen. battery is underneath the trackpad.
