I know some come with 128MB and some with 256MB on the MBP range, but is it possible to allocate some more within the BIOS of the machine?

I am looking at a 2GB upgrade so I could spare 256MB to share with a 128MB Graphics card :)

Simple answer : No.

I believe that the VRAM on the MBP is not taken from the system ram, like the macbook, but instead is "extra" physical ram for only the graphics chip, so therefore it cannot be upgraded.
