Hi

I am about spend bit if my reduntancy and not sure witch to go with?
Will be used for spread sheets, email, web, and face no major gaming

Max budget £1,000

Please advise

Get the air and increase memory or just go with the £999 MacBook pro retina

For your needs either would suffice, the form of the Air is 'nicer' to use imo, it's smaller and lighter, albeit not massively so shouldn't sway your decision either way.

The Pro obviously has the benefits of the retina screen, so it all comes down to how important that would be to you.

I had the Air, and eventually moved to the Pro because of the screen.

The big difference (for me) is portability.

I had a 15" MBP but found it a bit unwieldy to carry around all day, especially if I was carrying the charger as well. Got a 13" MBA and it's absolutely fantastic - does everything I need it too (same as you really, nothing taxing really) and I can slip it in a bag and barely notice it's there. I've done a full day's work on it without needing to charge it, so rarely carry the charger, which definitely helps.

Weve had the first air since 2015 and just convinced the wife to get the new pro 13" arriving today.

Screen is soo much nicer on the pro and cpu power.

The retina is stunning, I struggle looking at non-retina now because I notice how un-sharp they are.

I have the 13" Air for the portability whilst I was at uni. It was great for this, long battery life and light. I ha

Now I do not travel with the laptop, I am looking at the 15" Retina Pro for the screen real estate. The Air can be a bit limiting working across a number of windows.
