Hiya,

My macbook pro suffered a very unfortunate fate. The radiator in the room above leaked and my laptop got soaking wet whilst charging on the sofa below. I took it to a Genius bar and they said it is beyond repair :( I decided to take it apart and have a look myself. The screen is fine, the battery has swollen and there is a little corrosion on the logic board. I can't bring myself to throw it away just yet. Applecare naturally does not cover water damage and it wasn't insured otherwise. Is all lost?

Cheers,

John

Home contents insurance?

Spare and repairs on ebay is probably the best bet...

You'll need at very least a new logic board and probably battery :(

Was thinking of using isopropyl alcohol for cleaning connectors. The battery is completely gone, swollen up really badly and knocked the trackpad out of sync with the case :(

fixed. If the battery is swollen then it poses a fire hazard so should be safely disposed of asap.
