Hi all,

ive got one of the new Macbooks and had no trouble since i got it a month ago until a few days ago and i cannot connect to any wifi signal - it just says "there was an error joining the airport network "insert network here""

i know nothing has changed in the router, and everything else is correct so does anyone have any ideas as to how i can troubleshoot this?

Cheers

Matt

I assume you're using some sort of security password? If so, try putting a '$' before the entire passkey (no spaces) and see if that works.

Can be the difference sometimes.

Could be either an interference or an authorisation issue.

You could download a AP Grapher then scan for networks. After scanning an picking the channel you want, don't forget to quit the AP grapher.. otherwise it will keep disconnecting as it searches the frequencies.

Can you see if it authorises in your router's logs?

Another application is iStumbler.

the $ worked until i rebooted and then it stopped working so i assumed it wasnt password based... so i went into the router and deleted all of the stored mac adresses and then added added just the macbook and my PC and it works fine now.

seems the router doesnt like >10 mac addresses being allowed access.

thanks for the help :)

why does the $ make a difference?
