Hi, Just wondering if there is any way of using my MacBook Pro with two external screens? I know it has only one DVI output which is connected to my 22" widescreen and running in clamshell mode. I have another 22" which is currently connected to my windows machine and the two sit side-by-side. Is there any way I can use my 'windows screen' and as extra mac screen across the network or anything like that? I am not convinced that its possible but its worth a try.

cheers, will check it out. It would be handy if I do share it using the network though so that I could easily switch between windows and mac on my 2nd screen. Any other suggestions?

yeah i had a look at synergy but I dont think its what I'm after. I have two keyboards etc so its not a KVM type thing I'm looking for. The simplest way I can put it is that I want to use both machines separately apart from the occassions when I want my mac desktop to span onto my windows screen. Am not sure if I am making any sense or not!

yep thats exactly what I'm looking for mate! I take it there is no mac alternative then? The desktop extension features of maxivista is the particular feature that I'm trying to explain. Might give it a try on my windows machines to see what its like. Thanks for the help

yeah you cant do it i dont think... it would have to be a software/networking solution. i dont think its possible to split a dvi port and have to separate monitors off it. its a digital signal designed for one connection.

what you going to do over 3 monitors ? personally i can think of a few but there all pr0n related

i wont be using the 3 monitors - i want to use my 2 22" screens side by side and have the laptop screen closed in clamshell mode. Will just have to make do with what I have I guess!

I remember, when the mini came out, seeing cables that split out the DVI-I connection to a DVI-D and a VGA connection. Haven't a clue if they worked ;) but it'd be worth looking in to.

how about! using the macbook pro with the case open and putting it next to that monitor?

yeah thats what im saying - i have been doing that but instead of using a 15" and one 22" screens i want to use 22" side by side. Will have to check out the dvi splitter cables.

good stuff... such a pain when your dreams of an integrated IT society don't come true :(

I was gonna go down that route when I got my 2407WFP, I found a hardware solution which was something that plugged into the side of your macbook on the left.
Forgotten what it is called but it would let you output to 2 monitors, will try and find out!

however nothing works at the moment with macbook pros as they use the express card slot which no one has made something for !
Can do it with older mac laptops but not MBP I think!
