I have manage to get my mate to let me borrow his External monitor this evening before I decide whether to get myself a iMac,

I am trying to calibrate the external to look like the one that is on the Macbook Pro but not having any success both screen look different. For example the safari frame on the MacBook Pro is a light grey but on the external it is a brownish Grey. What should the colour really be?

How should I calibrate the monitor to match the screen on the MBP or is that impossible?

I have a Spyder Express 2.

Hope you can help

Cheers

Hi,

So basically even if I calibrated my screen it going to be impossible to get my MBP Screen to be the same then the external screen? Unless I get a Apple Screen?

But what worries me when I come to print my images they tend to be the same what shows on my MBP at the moment and no way near the External.

If I calibrated the External Monitor it seem wrong too blueish.

Or could it be that the Samsung T240 not that good and I prob get a better colour from a Dell TFT? Like yours ;) Can you possibly tell me how far off yours are. Also When I close my MBP Lid it goes in sleep mode how do I stop this?

Thank you or your help on this,

To be honest I am loving this Duel Screen work it lovely really is, but the colour on the external is way off at the moment too over saturated compare to what i see on my MBP... Could be the Monitor or I dont know yet I just have to have a play or maybe someone can give me a pointer

Change the colour temperature via the software with the spyder thing?

My Huey Pro has a colour temperature and gamma setting at the end of setup.

I never trust my MBP screens as they are rubbish in comparison to a proper professional screen.

Really I though the MBP Screen Were good? I cant change colour Temperature on my spyder express think I need next version up :(

Forgot what screen you had?

Hmmm guess what... I have manage to get both screen VERY much near the same :) Now I am having a good play and I am liking it very much. This TFT samsung T240 seem very good for money. Makes me think how the dell will perform compare to this samsung as I should think the Dell will kick ass

I have the WFP2007.

No, the macbook pro screens aren't good. In fact there is a lawsuit against apple for falsely advertising it.

Have a look at this background below;

Look at how it looks on a proper external monitor and then compare it to when it's on a MBP screen and see how bad the colour blending is on the wave in the middle. BAD!

I have downloaded that wallpaper and put it on my MBP and external as wallpaper and WOW you do see a different on the wave in the middle with thos 4 faint lines.

I guess the new Apple LED cinema display will be just the same?

Will ask this question in here see if I get an answer... With aperture if I have it over on the 2nd monitor the Full screen mode is on the MBP itself is there a way to get the Full screen on the External without having to have the display setting as mirror.

Cheers

Since you have a Dell Monitor what picture preset did you have your monitor set at before you caibrated it? SRGB or one of the others?

If you have the MagSafe connector plugged in, it won't go to sleep when you close the lid.

I assume that they force it to sleep when on battery power because under no circumstances do they want the computer to be left running by mistake when you put it in to a bag or a sleeve.

strange as mine does goes to sleep when magsafe plugged in

I don't have that option. Because it's DVI everything colour related is controlled by my mac.

That very strange as I am running through DVI too....

Ah well never mind I got the screen calibrated now and it a bit different from My MBP screen but when I print the image it match what I see on the Dell Screen :)
