MacBook Pros changing soon?

I'm heavily tempted to buy a macbook pro soon as I can save over £300 with the Education discount but only till 1st October, I'm hearing lots about Core2Duos whats the likelyhood?

Education discount looks like so:
15.4" 2.16Ghz MacBook Pro normally £1700

With Education Discount: £1,444.08
iPod Nano 4Gb - £155.10
iPod Rebate - -£100
Sell iPod - -£150 (normally £170)

Total Price Paid: 1349.18
saving: £351

Same position as you mate, i've been waiting since I left uni to buy one so i'm pretty miffed they haven't announced anything solid yet. It will come, but maybe they will just wait till they push the Santa Rosa platform?

Let's wait till Tuesday and see.

Okay i've just been checking this out, apparently there is some "photokina" conference on the 26th September. This will be the last opportunity for an announcement before the iPod deal runs out. I think i'm ordering on the 29/30th then- Yonah/Merom/468SX whatever.

If they are selling these off for "clearance" then that is very significant: they are coming soon as you say..

Well I took the plunge and got:

MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz
15.4" screen
Normal Screen coating
2Gb RAM (upgraded my self from 512Mb)
100Gb HDD (upgraded)

which after rebates, cost of ram, selling old ram and the iPod that comes with the back to school deal will save me just over 1/2 a kilo off retail

Can't wait for it to come, just need to buy a case for it now. I bought an AirTunes base station at the same time too. Bring it on Apple!
