Hi There,

Just ordered 2x1gb ram for my macbook (2ghz C2D). Will my old ram (2x512mb) work in a 1.83ghz CD macbook?

Cheers

Jon

Yes.

Remember to keep the old memory should you ever need to send it in for a Warranty Repair. AppleCare can be sticklers for the machine to be in the original hardware loadout.

Not that you can sell the 2x256 sticks in the Macbook for more than tuppence anyway.

Awesome, well my mate has a 1.83 core duo and 512mb ram, so I'm selling him my existing 1gb and then purchasing 2gb :D

Ram is quite dirt cheap at the moment! When I last looked, 2x1gb sticks was almost £200!!!

Same here.
Ive been waiting for prices to drop to reasonable levels for 2x1Gb sticks.
And they finally have! :D

Yup!

I'm sorely tempted to wait until prices rise before selling though :p , however I did promise my mate!

:) Do it brother!

...However, Due to a usb and slight case warping problem with my macbook, I still haven't installed the ram. Instead, I spent the night doing a backup, and after work I'm going and picking up my complete replacement!

Installing the ram as soon as I get home though :D
