How can I tell if my MacBook can support 4Gb of RAM and not the 3.3Gb limit of the older models?

I was under the impression only the first Core Duos had the limit but according to the Crucial site mine only supports 2Gb max (officially).

It's a 1.83Ghz Core 2 Duo which I got almost exactly 2 years ago. It came with 512mb originally, which I upped to 1Gb. But now I'm thirsty for more:p

I think chipset limitations on that model limit you to 3GBs of RAM max (unofficially).

You could put 4GBs in to get better performance though, from matched pairs as the GMA graphics chip works better this way.
