I've just stuck 2 sticks of 512MB Ram into my Macbook, they cost £30 each so I didn't really save much but I should be able to get a few quid for the old ones.

The actual process itself is fairly easy. It did take two attempts to get it working though.

The important thing to note is that you must push the RAM in very very hard, I had to use the handle on my precision screwdriver to force them all the way down. Also note you need you need a pretty small screwdriver to get the metal cover off the RAM slots.

I haven't done any testing but it does seem a fair bit quicker :)

Corsair Value Select 667MHz. Strangely Spotlight is being a little odd. It works fine in a finder window but it doesn't do anything in the top right of the screen.

Sorted, I just had to force the SystemUIServer to restart to rebuild the menu bar and thus relaunch Spotlight. Works fine now, don't know why it got upset in the first place.

The RAM has made a pleasent improvement to Mac OS X, Safari and Itunes load in less than one bounce now which is pretty amazing. Half Life 2 in Windows seems to have had a dramatic performance increase.

Yep, all working smoothly here. Had a few KPs but that's definately to do with the headphone problem, I'm pretty sure I had one before upgrading the RAM anyways.
