I got myself one of those caddies to replace the optical drive with a second hard drive.
However, after fitting it, it gets power ok, but system profiler doesn't detect anything attached, and its hard drive doesn't show up in finder, startup manager, disk utility or anything like that.
I think I may have answered my own question, but I thought I'd see if anyone could think of anything to try, but I can't think of anything, and it would seem to point towards a fault with the caddy, as the old optical drive was detected ok (although it wouldn't read discs, but I think this was a problem with the drive rather than the interface, as it got progressively worse until it wouldn't read at all)
